Aviation Digest: 13-19 May, 2014

Last week was quite promising for Ukrainian aviation industry. Thus, “Aviakon” presented new helicopter, and the Poles consider the company “Motor Sich” as the basis for modernization of its military equipment. But contrary to success of Ukraine with its European partners, relations with the Russian Federation in the aerospace industry deteriorate further, as well as the field of air transport. The State Aviation Service began to work actively in the regions to restore aviation infrastructure.

SE Ukraerorukh once again became a spotlight, so the company has signed a ten-year agreement with JSC Datagroup for the transmission of data by wireline networks in the amount of UAH 344 million. Currently, the official owner of Datagroup is a Cypriot company Datagroup Holding Limited (Datagroup Holding Limited) founded by Alexander Kardakov.

June 5, Kiev and Brussels are going to sign an agreement on the Common Aviation Area. It was reported by Ukrainian government and the European Commission, on Tuesday, May 13, after the bilateral meeting in Brussels.

The State Aviation Service granted Ukrainian airlines permissions for new routes. At the same time, authorities banned local airlines to operate regular and charter flights to a number of Russian regions in the North Caucasus.

State Concern Ukroboronprom member SE Konotop plant «Aviakon» presented a new modification of the attack helicopter Mi-24P.

Also, the Polish army considers upgrading of its helicopters on the basis of SE “Motor Sich”.

SE «Antonov» announced cessation of the program of remotorization of AN- 2 operated in Russian, which was to provide about 500 vehicles with new engines. Also, the staff of the company is to picket the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Action aimed at preserving the enterprise as a union structure — scientific-production enterprise and production plant, as well as protection of the companie’s head Dmitry Kiva.

The bankruptcy case was filed against Kharkiv aircraft plant. The enterprise Tech Company «Aviatehkom» LLC requires to recognize the plant a bankrupt due to partial failure of the ruling of 24 October 2008 to pay the company 733 thousand dollars.

Airbus Company has successfully completed certification testing on a wet runway of aircraft Airbus A350 XWB. Appropriate tests of Airbus A350- 941 took place in Istra (France).

Dubai low-cost airline “Flydubai” reduces the number of flights to Ukraine, the reason was the general political situation in the country.

Kirovograd airline “Urga” plans to launch a regular flight Kiev -Lviv in June of this year.

“Wizz Air Ukraine” reported that is not going to change pricing for winter 2014-2015 flights, as compared to the previous winter season, the average price of flights in euro terms remain unchanged. The company has already opened the sale of tickets for flights of 2014winter navigation; the route network will be 16 destinations in 6 countries.

Since May 13, UIA has suspended the flights between Novosibirsk and Kiev; flights were canceled because of commercial reasons. Also, the main reason for a rise in price of tickets for domestic flights, according to the company, was a sharp jump in the exchange rate, which resulted in additional costs.

Crimean authorities want to establish a regional airline, which will serve domestic flights on the peninsula and to the Russian cities. They believe that the airport “Simferopol” ready to receive up to 1.5 million passengers per month, but airlines are not yet ready to perform flights, fearing international sanctions.

A Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, in turn, closed airports of the peninsula, citing the increased risk of insecurity of flights over occupied territory to civil aircraft.

Chairman of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine Denis Antoniuk visited Chernivtsi, where discussed with local authorities the issue of Chernivtsi airport recovery for normal operation, as well as plans for its development.

International Airport “Uzhgorod” may stop to accommodate planes since October 1, its certificate expired in March, and was then extended only until October 1.

Passenger traffic at the airport “Odessa” in April 2014 decreased 7.7 % compared to the same period of last year. Generally, this week has been quite positive for the aviation industry, and we can trace a certain normalization of the situation. Against the political and territorial conflict with Russia we can see redistribution of aviation market towards the European Union. State Aviation Service activity towards development and reconstruction of the aviation infrastructure in the regions of the country will affect development of the aviation industry in general in the near future.
